Richard "Dick" Alix Senior Consultant

Richard Alix is a Senior Consultant with the American Business Development Group, an internationally respected, full-spectrum business development consulting firm, now representing a diverse list of over fifty prominent U.S. and international businesses. American Business Development Group enjoys a reputation as the largest business development firm in the United States which specializes in the re-equipping and modernization of the United States Armed Forces. The firm has facilitated more than $680,000,000 in “new found sales” for client companies in the last year and historically each year for the last four years.

Mr. Alix is a career logistician, with a wealth of knowledge on the life-cycle of major items of equipment, to include acquisition, materiel management and maintenance. He was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Industrial Management. Later attended the Florida Institute of Technology and earned a Masters Degree in Logistics Management.

Mr. Alix entered the U.S. Army in 1962 as a lieutenant in the Armor Branch. Wounded in combat action in Vietnam during the Viet Cong “TET Offensive” in 1968, while serving as an Advisor to the 28th Airborne Battalion, Army of South Vietnam. In addition to overseas tours in Vietnam, Korea and duty at the Pentagon, also assigned to the Defense Logistics Agency in Philadelphia. While in this position as Director, was responsible for procurement and acquisition of over 1.7 billion dollars annually of materiel and equipment, including contract administration.

After retiring from the U.S. Army at the grade of Colonel after twenty-three years service, he took a position with Day and Zimmerman in Philadelphia. In 1988, assumed a position as President and General Manager of a Day and Zimmerman subsidiary called Protection Technology Idaho, Inc. This included total start-up of a new company and subsequent operations of a contract operation of over 100 million dollars with the Department of Energy.

Mr. Alix returned to Federal Government Service in 1990 as a Special Assistant to the Director of Acquisition Management, Office of the Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Rockville, Maryland. In 1991, returned to service with the Army in senior executive management positions as the Installation Manager, U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM), and later, Director of Operations, Tank-automotive Research & Development Center (TARDEC), Warren, Michigan. He was also engaged as an adjunct Professor of Management and Marketing with the Detroit College of Business, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Glendale, Arizona.

Since his retirement from the Federal Government in 1998, he has served as President of Alix & Associates International (AAI), of Goodyear, Arizona, providing worldwide consulting services in international marketing to both U.S. and foreign companies. He currently resides in Goodyear, Arizona, is married to the former Lois A. Trefz of Haddon Heights, NJ, and has two sons.
