Bill Fleshman is Director of Legislative Liaison for the American Business Development Group, an internationally respected, full-spectrum business development consulting firm, now representing a diverse list of over fifty prominent U.S. and international businesses. American Business Development Group enjoys a reputation as the largest business development firm in the United States which specializes in the re-equipping and modernization of the United States Armed Forces. The firm has facilitated more than $680,000,000 in “new found sales” for client companies in the last year and historically each year for the last four years.
Mr. Fleshman's distinguished career includes extensive experience in senior positions within the Legislative and Executive branches of government in the fields of defense, intelligence, and law enforcement as well as senior executive positions in private industry. He also served his country in the Republic of South Vietnam as an Advisor, Military Assistance Command Vietnam.
Mr. Fleshman came to ABDG from ITT Industries, Night Vision Division, in Roanoke, VA where he served as a Vice President and Director. At ITT he managed programs valued in excess of one billion dollars that provided night vision capabilities to domestic and international military forces. Prior to joining ITT, he served on Capitol Hill as a Senior Professional Staff Member on the Armed Services Committee and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in the U.S. House of Representatives. In these positions, he advised Members of Congress concerning the policies and fiscal activities of the Department of Defense and intelligence community. In addition he had oversight responsibility for the defense counter narcotics program.
Prior to his tenure with the U.S. House of Representatives, Mr. Fleshman served as a Supervisory Special Agent at the Washington DC Headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where he managed domestic terrorism cases nationwide. He began his post-military career as a Special Agent with the FBI in the Buffalo, New York City, and San Francisco Field Offices. During his tenure in the FBI he also spent 4 years investigating defense programs for the Committee on Appropriations, U.S. House of Representatives.
After college, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant out of Infantry OCS at Ft Benning, Ga, attended Signal Officer Basic School, Military Advisory Training and Vietnamese language school prior to deployment to Vietnam as an advisor. For his service, he received the Bronze Star and Distinguished Service Medal First Class awarded by the South Vietnamese government.
Mr. Fleshman received his bachelor's degree from Emory and Henry College and a Master's Degree in Government from Southern Illinois University. A Roanoke native he has two children, Whitney and Turner.
